We’re committed to helping you achieve that, and look forward to ‘seeing’ you at an up- coming webinar! Development Downtown Market Will Rebound, Say Pros According to a recent report in the Chi- cago Tribune , the word among Windy City real estate circles is that the pandemic has ground residential sales downtown to a crawl, thanks to more people working re- motely—and as a result seeking out larger homes with more elbow room and out- door space in outer neighborhoods and suburbs. However, Ted Weldon, Executive Gen- eral Manager of Development for Lend- lease Chicago, says he sees nothing but promise for downtown home sales in the coming years. “There is always migration to the suburbs, but we’re very bullish on the urban downtown market,” he says. “People love and thrive on the nightlife and the incredibly short commute. It’s a trade-off — if you live in the suburbs, you’re looking at an hour commute every day.” Weldon’s company is itself readying for The Reed, the next phase of the company’s ongoing Southbank development on the edge of the Chicago River. Set to open in 2023, The Reed will be set on the South Branch of the river with 216 condomini- ums and 224 rental apartments spread across 41 floors at 234 W. Polk St. in the South Loop. The Reed follows The Cooper, which opened in 2018, and the two-acre South- bank Park. In all, the Southbank develop- ment is set to fill seven acres of land at Polk and Wells streets, not far from the Roosevelt Collection. One-, two- and three-bedroom condos will be sold starting at $390,000 and will range from 630 to 1,670 square feet. Lo- cated on floors 23 to 41, the condos will have views that can reach as far as Lake Michigan, Weldon said. n PULSE Please submit Pulse items to Darcey Gerstein at darcey@cooperator.com C W OIN ASHER C .
