The CooperatorEvents Expo Returns to Navy Pier

Whether you’re a manager or a board member, running a condo or HOA has never been an easy job. There’s always a capital project to fund, a contractor to hire, a dispute to resolve, a leak to repair… the list can feel endless.

That’s why CooperatorEvents is thrilled to be at Navy Pier in downtown Chicago on Thursday, October 16 for the 2025 Chicagoland Fall Expo, and we think you will be, too. The location is convenient and parking is also free*! If you’ve joined us for previous shows, you know there’s just no other event that puts you right in front of the vendors and service providers your building or HOA needs every day, all in one place—and for FREE!

And if this will be your first Expo, welcome! You can look forward to networking with peers and colleagues, shopping for services, learning about the latest multifamily innovations, and attending free seminars led by industry pros. Whatever brings you to the show, time at the Expo is always time well spent. You can register ahead of time at ilexpo.com/Register, or just come to the show and register on-site.

The More You Know…

The Expo always features a roster of free seminars and panel discussions covering issues of interest and import to boards, managers, and residents alike—and the 2025 show is no exception. Throughout the day, Expo attendees will have the opportunity to hear the latest on everything from late-breaking legislation and legal issues to orienting newly-elected board members, directly from professionals working in the field.

This year, we’re excited to introduce our Learning Hub, a slate of 20-minute presentations on hot topics designed to bring even more education and resources directly to our Expo attendees. Industry pros will dig into issues ranging from the challenges of installing EV charging stations to composting to understanding your community’s monthly and annual financial reports, and more.

In addition to the new Learning Hub, this year’s full-length seminar schedule includes:

Understanding, Solving & Funding Building Leaks–Water Intrusion Seminar

Sponsor: Woodland Windows & Doors

(2hr course - 2 CMCA credits)

9 - 11am, Room 1

Water infiltration and leaks can happen almost anywhere—at windows, walls, siding, masonry, stucco, roofs, foundations, and many other building components. Find out why, and learn how to detect and prevent the damage they cause, as well as how to fund water infiltration-related repairs. (2 CMCA credits - 2hr course)

Navigating Winter: HOA Responsibilities & Snow Removal Planning

Sponsor: Pezza Landscape, Inc.

10:30 - 11:30am, Room 2

Cold weather is right around the corner—and that means snow, ice, and the risk of slips, falls, and other winter-related mishaps on your property. This seminar will outline the responsibility of boards and managers when it comes to snow and ice removal, discuss best practices, and help you map out a game plan for keeping your walkways, parking spaces, and other areas clear and hazard-free.

Commercial Property Claims—the Who’s, the What’s, the Do’s, the Don’ts

Sponsor: Conrad Roofing

(1hr course - 2 CMCA credits)

11:30am -12:30pm, Room 1

With premiums spiralling and policies becoming more complex, it’s more crucial than ever for boards to understand the basics of their community’s insurance coverage. This presentation will explain Actual Cash Value (ACV) vs. Replacement Cost Value (RCV), indemnity principles, how to document damage, policy limits, paradigm shifts in the industry, when to call in the experts, and more —plus case studies and real-world insights to sharpen your claim strategies. (2 CMCA credits - 1hr course)

Low Slope Roofs for Building Owners and Managers

Sponsor: Klein & Hoffman

(1.5hr course - CMCA credits)

12:30 - 2pm, Room 2

As your building ages, maintaining a roof eventually becomes too costly or bothersome, and roof replacement is considered. As a property manager or owner, understanding current standards per typical building codes and manufacturer requirements for re-roofing projects puts you in a better position to negotiate with contractors and to manage your consultants and professionals. This presentation provides an overview of key considerations to achieve successful roof system replacement projects that produce roofs that perform over the long-term. (1.5 CMCA credit course)

Brick By Brick—An Insider's Guide to Masonry Restoration Projects

Sponsor: BAC Pointers, Cleaners &

Caulkers

1:30 - 2:30pm, Room 1

Maintaining your building's masonry is every bit as crucial to safety, comfort, and value as maintaining your boiler or furnace—but major masonry repair and restoration projects can be daunting for building owners and boards who are unfamiliar with the materials and methods involved. This panel of professionals will help demystify the process, so building decision-makers can take a more proactive approach to their next major project. They will also gain confidence that they are working with qualified, credible masonry professionals toward a successful outcome.

Keeping the Peace—Conflict Management Tips for Boards & Property Managers

Sponsor: CooperatorEvents

2:30 - 3:30pm, Room 2

Conflict management skills are part of every good manager and board member’s toolkit—especially in this era of social media and heightened cultural tensions. Between defusing hostility at meetings, coping with the impact of platforms like Nextdoor and Yelp, or understanding what constitutes ‘harassment’ and how to deal with it, community administrators have a lot to deal with. This expert panel will discuss practical methods for maintaining order and decorum at meetings, ‘talking down’ emotional situations, and the limits of boards’ and managers’ legal obligation to intervene in an array of conflict situations.
